The path has four stages: foundational learning (Trailmix), hands-on build (Developer Edition), practice exam, real exam. Plan 6-8 weeks of part-time prep.
- Take AI Associate first if you have not
The Agentforce Specialist exam assumes AI vocabulary and Einstein product knowledge that AI Associate teaches. Skipping AI Associate is possible but you will study vocabulary mid-Agentforce prep instead of focusing on hands-on skill.
- Complete the official Agentforce Trailmix
Search Trailhead for Prepare for Your Salesforce Agentforce Specialist Credential. Work through every module. Take notes on action types, grounding patterns, and Trust Layer features.
- Build an agent end-to-end in a Developer Edition
Sign up for a free Developer Edition with Agentforce enabled. Build a customer service agent: topics, standard actions, custom flow action, prompt template, and Data Cloud grounding. End-to-end build is the difference between passing and failing.
- Take the official $20 practice exam
Trailhead Credentials, Agentforce Specialist, Practice Exam. Take under timed conditions. Score below 70%, restudy the weak topics; score above 80%, schedule the real exam.
- Schedule and sit the exam
Schedule on the Trailhead Credentials site. Pick online proctored (Webassessor) or in-person at Pearson Vue. Watch the maintenance cadence; Agentforce updates frequently and the exam content keeps pace.
Online-proctored via Webassessor or in-person at Pearson Vue. 105 minutes total.
$200 USD for first attempt, full price for retakes.
Official Trailmix (25-30 hours) plus end-to-end Developer Edition build (15-20 hours) plus practice exam.
Per-release maintenance modules. More aggressive than standard Salesforce cert maintenance due to Agentforce product velocity.
- The exam is hands-on. Candidates who only read Trailmix content without building agents fail on action-design questions consistently.
- Agent Builder updates with each Salesforce release. Study guides from a year ago miss recent features; use current Trailhead content only.
- Action type decisions (flow vs Apex vs prompt template vs standard) are the most heavily tested concepts. Practice these in your sandbox build.
- Maintenance is more demanding than typical Salesforce certs. Plan time for each release-aligned maintenance module.
- The exam tests both standard and custom action design. Standard actions from libraries like Sales Cloud are a quarter of the action questions; do not ignore them.
