Service Provider
In SSO context, the application that relies on an identity provider for authentication. When using SSO, Salesforce acts as a service provider that trusts the external identity provider's assertions.
Example use case
Salesforce is configured as the SP in a SAML SSO setup, accepting authentication assertions from the company's Okta identity provider.
