An XML-based open standard for exchanging authentication and authorization data between an identity provider and a service provider. Salesforce supports SAML for single sign-on (SSO).
Example use case
An admin configures SAML-based SSO so that employees can log into Salesforce using their corporate Active Directory credentials through Okta as the identity provider.
